What is Nerve Root Block
A nerve root block is a procedure in which an injection of local anaesthetic (numbing medicine) mixed with steroid is given under X-ray guidance into the area where the nerve exits between the bones of the spinal column. It is used to both diagnose and treat an inflamed spinal nerve. The medication reduces inflammation and numbs the pain transmitted by the nerve.
